Rodger Stevens: "Carefully Composed Inaccuracies"

APRIL 2 - 30, 2010
Nelson Macker Fine Art presents a large series of steel wire sculptures by Rodger Stevens. Though abstract in appearance, elegant and lyrical, these recently completed works are in fact each small, self-contained narratives - visual short stories that reveal their plots by means of form and line rather than language. Like poems, they are stripped of extraneous detail and seek to convey their message as economically as possible. And, as with a carefully wrought poem, they withhold enough information to allow the viewer to enter the narrative and complete its meaning.

These works, both wall-mounted and free-standing, are each unique, crafted by hand, by the artist alone, and are not available as editions.
